About the Teacher
Sankarshan Nitai Das was born on 4th April 1973 at Berhampore town, Murshidabad district of West Bengal, India. He completed his graduation in Commerce from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata in the year 1993. He did his Chartered Accountancy (C.A.) and Cost Accountancy (I.C.W.A.) from Kolkata to start a professional career. In the meantime, his elder brother HG Bhaktajana Priya Das introduced him to ISKCON and Srila Prabhupada in the year 1994. He visited ISKCON Mayapur in the year 1995 and got deeply inspired by Sri Mayapur Dham.
Srila Prabhupada touched him very deeply through his books and he decided to join the Hare Krishna movement. He joined the ISKCON movement at Sridham Mayapur in the year 1996. His Holiness Jayapataka Swami awarded Harinam Diksha to him on Radhastami day of 1997 and Brahmana Diksha on Gaura Purnima day of 1999 at Sridham Mayapur.
He served ISKCON Mayapur in different managerial positions for more than two decades. Along with his managerial services, he was involved in developing different types of preaching activities for ISKCON Mayapur such as College Preaching, Bhakti Vriksha Preaching, and other outreach activities. Since 2006 He has been serving as a traveling preacher of ISKCON Mayapur spreading the message of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in different parts of the world. In the year 2018, he came out from Mayapur management to give more focus and attention in the field of preaching and education.
At present, he is actively involved in the training and development of Youth and Bhakti Vriksha groups for ISKCON Mayapur and other centers of ISKCON. Apart from these preaching services he is also serving as the Regional Secretary of ISKCON and Chairman of ISKCON Bhagavata Mahavidyalaya at Sri Govardhan Dham.
Course Overview
Course Description: Bhakti Rasamrta Sindhu is a general description of devotional service, the regulative principles, and devotional service as the ultimate goal, love of God. Srila Rupa Gosvami was the foremost disciple of Sri Krishna Caitanya, and the Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu is his literary masterpiece, a classic of devotional literature composed in Sanskrit and describing the complete science of bhakti-yoga, or linking with the Supreme through transcendental loving devotion.
This course is the first module on the Bhakti Rasamrta Sindhu. The later modules of the course will cover the whole book comprising of the other three sections.
The first module will cover the description of the Eastern Division. Module 2 will cover the Southern Division. Module 3 will cover the Western and Northern Division.
Course Contents: Teaching will be from the English translations of the original Sanskrit slokas of the Bhakti Rasamrita Sindhu along with some reflections from the Durgama-sangamini-tika by Srila Jiva Gosvami pada and the Bhakti-sara-pradarshini-tika by Srila Vishvanatha Chakravarti pada.
